The end of the world?

The weather at the moment is scarily awful. I’ve seen so many pictures of massive storms – it’s as if the whole world has been photoshopped.

But today we hit a glorious, unexpected window of sunshine.

Lurtz had a judo competition down in South Devon. Rainbow opted out of going (“You want me to drive for an hour and a half to sit and watch small boys cry?”). We drove through hail, howling wind, floods and spray, with the Sat-nav chirping telling us we were going to miss the weigh in. And then, suddenly, miraculously, we were there. Dumped.the boys, cycled out of town with Golden Girl, sunshine, glorious views, one embarrassing cleat incident, another  hour and a half of training g under the belt. Got back to find Lurtz was internal, and winning. And then the hail came hammering down, as if the universe had been watching g US, and gel  off until.we had got under cover.

So now a moment of pride as I reveal that I am the mother of the Devon Championships under 27kg class silver medallist. Eat that, Jenny Jones.

About sarahsouthwest

I'm now in my early 50s. I started writing again as a way of exploring the world, and feel that over the last 2 years I have really grown as a writer. By day I work with children and young people with mental health difficulties. I juggle my own two children, my work, my writing practice, generally managing to keep all the balls up in the air.
